I'd suggest using social media channels to connect with exhibitors, make them feel important, and offer deals. Did an exhibitor just pull out of their booth? Sell their space on your Twitter feed at a reduced rate and it'll get scooped up. Looking for sponsors for a last-minute event? Advertise on your Facebook feed. Was the show floor packed at last year's show? Make sure this year's booth prospects see the potential by posting a video of it on YouTube. And onward!

What, no salsa lessons? Oh, geez...and I has such high hopes...

As always, great post Ken. I would like to reinforce your notion of a tradeshow appearance being part of the larger process instead of a single event. Some high-profile folks (Seth Godin, for example) suggested that a tradeshow appearance was a single event and not part of a process. All marketing is part of the process, whether it's a tradeshow appearance or a series of appearances through the year.
